Power of Style
Lifestyle Series | 10 X 30 Minutes | General | Late Development
THE POWER OF STYLE is a premium lifestyle series with fashion writer and style authority Christian Allaire. It lives at the intersection of fashion, culture, identity, and glamour...an energetic space where what we wear stops being superficial and starts communicating something deeper.
At its heart, THE POWER OF STYLE is a makeover show but one that takes an exciting new direction by harnessing one’s culture - ethnic and/or social - as the inspiration and direction for the fashion transformation. Our audience will be treated to an insider’s view of dynamic fashion ateliers and vibrant cultural spaces with Chrstian as our guide, and with his full charm, insight, and playful humour front and centre.
While THE POWER OF STYLE has a repeatable format, this is not a conventional TLC makeover show. There are no direct to camera chit-chats by the host and no one is being rescued from bad taste. A key distinction in our show - and a fresh take on Canadian style - is that our people already know how to dress their bodies. Our participants already have instinct, flair, self-awareness, and a relationship to fashion that is alive.
But style can still hit a wall, especially when we’re challenged with showing up for one of the biggest days in our lives. These are moments when getting dressed starts carrying more weight than usual and where we want to present ourselves as authentically as possible. This could be for a keynote speech after your appointment to lead a cultural institution, or you’re a guest at a mixed-cultural wedding, or perhaps you’re planning an outfit for the world premiere of your first feature film. These are all times where an entrance into a room means your clothes need to hold history, ambition, contradiction, family, glamour, community, sex, grief, or power (and sometimes all at once).
Thankfully, our participants come with an open heart and an open mind, and a willingness to take risks to achieve something great: a vibrant new style they’ve never expressed before and one that integrates all of who they are. And Christian is here to guide the process as our creative director, maintaining the fun and levity of a rare experience and providing meaningful insights without veering into the too serious.
[We are actively in development, currently looking for production funds and a showrunner]
