Murder in Manitoba
Limited True Crime Series | 4 X 60 Minutes | Adult | Development
Fight for Our Lives: Murder in Manitoba is a true crime investigation into the brutal murders of four Indigenous women Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and Ashlee Shingoose by convicted Winnipeg serial killer Jeremy Skibicki.
With exclusive access to the families and friends of the young women, as well as individuals who knew the killer, Fight for Our Lives: Murder in Manitoba is set to be produced by Rezolution Pictures — a 25-year-old Montreal-based, Indigenous-owned and women-led documentary production company — in co-production with UK-based Woodcut Media, recognized by Realscreen as one of the top ten factual producers in the world.
“Rezolution Pictures brought us one of the most compelling true crime stories I’ve read about in a long time” – Aidan Dunford, Senior Development Producer at Woodcut.
Fight for Our Lives: Murder in Manitoba is, at its heart, an enthralling and heartbreaking true crime saga – a serial killer who hunted down Indigenous women and who murdered Rebecca, Morgan, Marcedes, and Ashlee before finally being captured in 2022 and sentenced at the end of 2024. The search for Skibicki is a gripping investigative narrative and forms the spine of this limited series.
But there is a bigger story -- Indigenous women as targets of violence in the US and Canada. This story alone is but one example.
