Aunty Snoozy

Aunty Snoozy invites children and families to use their imaginations in everyday outdoor and urban environments while incorporating long-standing Indigenous teachings into their play. Instead of traveling online to connect with people around the world, children journey inward—making deeper connections with the natural world, with each other, and with the cultural teachings around them.

The series will be shot primarily in Cree, with all segments rooted in Indigenous worldviews. Structured as a children’s variety show like Sesame Street, it will feature live-action, puppets, animation, music, and playful interactions. Diverse segments include puppet hosts and guests, musical and song pieces in Cree, numeracy and literacy components, animated imagination adventures, learning moments with hosts, and socio-emotional lessons focused on teamwork, respect, and getting along.

At the centre are a group of Cree children, guided by Aunty Snoozy—a guardian elder figure full of warmth, humour, and gentle wisdom. Together, they bring viewers on adventures that celebrate Cree language, cultural knowledge, and childhood wonder.

This is a Sesame Street–style celebration of Cree language and Indigenous imagination. Emmy Award–winning Sesame Street writer Katherine Sandford is confirmed to be working with the creative team on this show.
