RUMBLE’s executive producer, Stevie Salas, is no stranger to fame and success in Japan. He was featured on the cover of the May 2020 edition of Rolling Stone, with Koshi Inaba, his partner in the rock duo Inaba/Salas. They regularly tour Japan and their album Chubby Groove went to #2 on the Japanese album charts in 2017. Maximum Huavo, the duo’s most recent album released last April, reached #1 on the Japan Billboard charts. The tour in support of the album is on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic and will resume in 2021.

“I am so excited about the Japanese theatrical release of RUMBLE. I’m super proud of the way RUMBLE has inspired so many people around the world.  It’s another small but important step for Indigenous musicians everywhere.  I’m sad that due to the COVID-19 virus I will not be able to attend the opening night or the great party that we had planned with the Canadian Embassy but I know all the music fans in Japan will love the film.” – Stevie Salas

The film’s success has been exceptional since its debut at Sundance in January 2017. RUMBLE won the “World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Masterful Storytelling” at Sundance,  it won at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, taking top honours for Best  Documentary as well as the Audience Award. RUMBLE won multiple awards at the Canadian Screen Awards and around the world. The film had a successful theatrical release in over 85 cities across North America and made its Canadian broadcast debut on HBO Canada (now Crave) and its US television debut on PBS’s prestigious Independent Lens series.

Following the success of RUMBLE, Rezolution Pictures is developing and producing more premium content as they move into the global market for big budget international productions.

RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World documents the role of Native Americans in popular music history.

Executive Producer Stevie Salas (Apache), a world-renowned guitarist and music producer (Mick Jagger, Justin Timberlake, Jeff Healey, Public Enemy, George Clinton, Bill Laswell, Adam Lambert, etc.) and Executive Producer Tim Johnson (Mohawk), former Associate Director for Museum Programs at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, co-created the N.M.A.I’s exhibit, “Up Where We Belong: Native Musicians in Popular Culture”.  To their surprise, many legendary music industry friends like Steven Tyler, George Clinton, Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton, Mike Inez, Taylor Hawkins, Taboo and others were really excited to talk about the influence that these Native American musicians had on their art and their lives. And then the film came about.

RUMBLE was directed by Catherine Bainbridge and co-directed by Alfonso Maiorana, also director of photography; produced by Christina Fon, along with Catherine Bainbridge, Linda Ludwick and Lisa M. Roth; executive producers are Stevie Salas and Tim Johnson; and the executive producers for Rezolution Pictures are Catherine Bainbridge, Christina Fon, Diana Holtzberg, Linda Ludwick, Jan Rofekamp, and Ernest Webb (Cree).

The film is also available on DVD at KinoLorber.com and streamed at Amazon, iTunes (with both English and French versions), Google Play and Vudu.
